Safety Surface Texture: The primary feature of the “Fishbone-Pattern” protective flooring is its unique surface texture. Each large outdoor mat is covered in a symmetrical “fishbone” design of zigzagging grooves. These grooves alternate in direction, providing multidirectional slip-resistance that isn’t lost when the surface is wet. Because the grooves protrude from the rubber floor mats, this design also functions as an effective shoe-scraper. Dirt, moisture, and debris are scraped from the soles of shoes, trapping it within the grooves of the anti-slip floor until it can be cleaned. The durable outdoor mat is also incredibly easy to clean, thanks to the material’s resistance to mild chemicals—simply hose it down or use your favorite mild soap for an even deeper cleaning.

Non-Slip Qualities:

Adding rubber floors is a simple and affordable way to quickly add non-slip protection to problem areas. In 2015 alone, more than one in four older adults reported falling and more than 28,000 older adults died because of falls. Injury from falls can easily be reduced by using rubber floors. This Fishbone-Pattern rubber mat adds an extra layer of anti-slip quality via the herringbone surface design. The zigzags remove dirt and debris from feet and add grip to the rubber’s natural traction surface.
Multiple Lengths:

The six available lengths allow for ease of installation and reduce the overall costs of onsite installation. The availability of varied lengths allows the consumer to purchase seamless lengths. This product can easily be cut using a utility knife, which makes for a product that can easily be customized as needed.
SBR Rubber:

Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), a general-purpose synthetic rubber, is produced from a copolymer of styrene and butadiene. Exceeding all other synthetic rubbers in consumption, SBR is used in great quantities in automobile and truck tires, generally as an abrasion-resistant replacement for natural rubber.
For many purposes, SBR directly replaces natural rubber, the choice depending simply on economics. Its advantages include excellent abrasion resistance, crack resistance, and generally better aging characteristics. Like natural rubber, SBR is swollen and weakened by hydrocarbon oils and is degraded over time by atmospheric oxygen and ozone.
Grip Mat:

The amount of traction between two surfaces depends on a few factors:
1- The type of materials used in each of the two surfaces coming together. Current theories suggest that when rubber moves over smooth surfaces, it is the molecular forces between the two that are the main cause of friction. But when the surface is rough, it is the deformation of entire molecular layers of rubber that is the chief cause of friction. Rubber is the ideal surface for floor safety and added traction, especially considering that most shoes now have rubber soles as well.
2- The surface texture of the two materials that are in contact. As surface textures become coarser, they have more grip. A coefficient of friction is a constant that describes the “gripiness” of two surfaces sliding against one another. This is not a function of a single surface, but of two surfaces. The coarser a rubber surface is, the more grip and the higher the coefficient of friction it will have when it comes in contact with other materials.
3- The contaminants at the materials’ boundary. In other words, the less moisture, grease, dirt and other debris are around, the less the possibility of lowering the grip qualities of a rubber mat.

This keeps moisture on the mat’s surface and reduces the need for cleaning in aisleways and commercial entryways.
