Building a Home Gym? Rubber Flooring is a Must!

There are many reasons for you to leave commercial gyms behind. The most glaring one is the membership fees, which ultimately drain your finances: The continued payments do not provide you with any net value. It’s like renting versus buying a home—if you can, buy the home. Plus, the prices of high-quality fitness machines are consistently declining. Thus, instead of paying monthly fees, you can invest in your own gear. In addition, having your own home gym is much more comfortable. You don’t have to worry about whether the machines were sanitized after their last uses, and you certainly don’t need to fear the merciless judgement of other gym goers. Why settle for an always loud and a—sometimes—smelly commercial gym when you can build a home gym and enjoy the benefits of fitness in the comfort of your own home?

Another consideration when deciding whether to build a home gym is time. For those of you without a good gym at your doorstep, it can be a struggle to find the time to commute to and from a commercial gym. The only commute a home gym requires is the stroll from your bedroom to your garage, basement, or backyard. Furthermore, commercial gyms tend to be very crowded—especially at peak times—making you wait in line at every step of your workout routine. Of course, in a home gym, this is never an issue. What’s more, you also have complete control over your gym environment—with the power to fine-tune every external element of your workout experience. You can choose the equipment you want without paying for machines you don’t use. You can also choose your workout entertainment, from music to TV show, taking the edge off that hard grind. Too many people underestimate the value of a workout that’s more fun.

While, in the past, it might have been more difficult to put together an effective home gym setup, that is no longer the case. With the right rubber flooring—Rubber-Cal’s rubber flooring—you can create the perfect workout environment. Aside from being affordable, a quality rubber flooring helps you hit those highly coveted peak performances. Enhancing your traction and comfort will make for better and more consistent workouts overall. And, as if that wasn’t enough, rubber flooring also ensures that your home gym’s heavy machinery does not damage your home’s existing surfaces. With so many rubber flooring options available to you, there is no reason for you not to build your own home gym.

What to do with a Concrete Floor? Rubber is your Best Bet!

Many homes feature concrete floors. Although you will most likely find concrete surfaces in basements and garages, a lot of main rooms in houses also have concrete subfloors. When brand new homes are sold to their first owners, these concrete floors are sometimes left exposed to allow buyers to resurface the home’s floors with their own chosen finishes. But, no matter where it is in the home, leaving a concrete floor exposed is an unwise decision. While seemingly invincible, concrete surfaces are prone to damages from impacts, are rigid and uncomfortable, provide little in the way of insulation, and can even be susceptible to moisture penetration.

Fortunately, you have many options when it comes to transforming your concrete floor into an all-around better surface. When trying to decide what to do with a concrete floor, ask yourself what kind of material you prefer. Wood, tile, and carpet are all worthy candidates in their own ways, but the obvious winner is rubber. Whether you plan to turn your basement or garage into an additional bedroom, a home gym, or just a storage space—of all the materials—rubber offers the most advantages when installed over a concrete floor.

When examining concrete’s deficiencies, you should consider that it is cold, becomes slippery when wet, is susceptible to water damage, and is surprisingly fragile. A quality rubber surface addresses all these problems in one fell swoop. Rubber is a great insulator, has a high level of grip, and is very comfortable to walk on. It is also easy to clean and maintain, and—better yet—it is impermeable, which means that it is not damaged by water. Rubber also provides excellent shock-absorbing qualities, protecting the structural integrity of your subfloors. When deciding what to do with a concrete floor, consider covering it with quality rubber flooring. It’s likely your best answer.
